Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

Totally tried to update the blog by trying out some new templates. Unfortunately, I can't get back to what I had before.

It looks like this format will be changing (again) soon. Ugh. Anyone want to design me a decent looking page?

Yikes!

It has been almost two weeks since my last post. I would like to say that I have been doing a ton of interesting things that I can share and enlighten you with, but alas that isn't really the case.

I do want to send out a belated birthday wish to Steadman's Army. Thanks for reading, thanks for commenting, and if I threw a party and invited all my friends, you would see the biggest gift would be from me and the card attached would say: "Thank you for being a friend."

Hope all the dads out there had a very happy Father's Day.

Our day was spent like this:
World Cup.
Me cleaning up my husband's hairline, while he held a very squirmy Little Lady and I prayed I didn't f' it up.
Golf.
The Lady napping at 5 pm.
Golf.
The Little Lady putting a bowl of peach juice on her head followed by a bath.
Golf.
Leaving my in-laws three hours after our original departure time (as specified by my husband, so he could go home and watch golf).
The Lady going to bed at 10 pm.
Golf recap.

I also didn't get a chance to write about my girls weekend, which was such a great time, ended entirely to early and was pretty much forgotten about by the next day when I was thrust back into the reality of being a mom with two kids and not a magazine reading, actually exercising, sitting in the sun relaxing woman.

I am starting to prep for our vacation next week, hopefully there won't be a repeat of last year's water logged aquarium visit. I am looking forward to getting the Ladies out and about.

Writing Stuff

I have been trying to freelance write a little bit. I am not looking to do in-depth articles just yet, so when I came across seed.com, I signed up.

As of right now, the pickings are kind of slim on topics I am willing or qualified to write about. However, here is a link to an article that I "contributed" to. Just a personal anecdote about reaction to the Lady's name.

Since most of you know me already, it isn't too big of a secret of what her real name is. For privacy's sake, I will still continue to refer to my kids and any other kids I talk about here, by nicknames. The article (obviously) uses her real name.

I do find it interesting how people feel they can weigh in on what you are going to name your own kid.

Does anybody out there have any odd reactions to the names they chose for their kids? Leave a comment if you are willing to share.

Countdown . . .

I am leaving for my annual girls weekend get-away in LBI tomorrow. I am so looking forward to it.

After waking up this morning at 5 am with the Little Lady, who finally went back to sleep around quarter to 6, then having the Lady arrive in our room at 7:30, naked, declaring that she peed on the floor in her room, I am ready for a break.

I have decided that this year my husband is on his own. I will pack one bag for the Ladies for an outdoor beach/pool adventure but that is it. He can handle, diapers, feedings, park outings and naptime. I know he will probably get a little help from his parents or mine, but I am really going to try to savor the fact that not only is the time I am spending away my own, but that I might have a moment to actually turn my brain off and stop thinking about schedules, cleaning, and what is for dinner and concentrate on the important things like, which magazine will I read first and how much more sunscreen should I reapply.

The fact that I am spending this weekend with some of my favorite people in the world, just makes it all the better. We will be missing one person this year and hope that she and her family (including her 2-month old little guy and her mom) are doing well.

This is also the first year in quite a few years that nobody is knocked-up (at least I don't think so--perhaps an announcement is forthcoming--but not from me!) so I will be boozing it up a little bit. You know, two Zimas or a wine cooler then sleeping in past 7:30. Can. Not. Wait.

I will say that I am a little giddy for the moment I get into the car, sans carseats, the radio loud and drive away. It isn't that I won't miss the Ladies or won't want to come back (at least not for a day or so) it is just that the feeling of being alone is so freeing.

So the countdown begins. . . 23 hours 15 minutes to go.

5 Years and Counting. . .

Today is my anniversary. I have been married for 5 years.

I will say that those years have gone by very quickly. I was hoping that on our 5-year anniversary that my husband and I would be back in Hawaii on the beach with a couple of cocktails in hand and that I would still be able to rock the bikini I wore on our honey.

It looks like we will have to aim for that next year. . .

While we never sat down on our wedding day and talked about where we would see ourselves in 5 years, I think that for both of us there are things that happened that we expected would happen, and things we wanted to happen that haven't quite panned out.

We are going out to dinner. I am a little nervous. What if we have nothing to talk about except the Ladies? I mean, my entire day pretty much revolves around them. He never wants to talk about work and quite honestly, neither one of us has done much outside the house lately that can sustain a conversation for more than 15 seconds.

I am thinking about reading up on current events (non-celebrity related--although RIP Gary Coleman and Rue McClanahan) because I am pretty sure he isn't going to be interested in the new Whole Foods that opened by the house or the fact that I bought a new potty seat for the upstairs bathroom.

I think he will be excited to learn that I got most of the permanent marker off the kitchen table, using toothpaste--a trick my aunt passed on to me, but I am pretty sure that nugget of info isn't going to get us all the way to dessert.

I think we will figure it out, I mean I kinda like this guy a lot, and I am hoping we can remember why we decided to take this road together.

On our wedding day! Look how well-rested I look.

Now see all the wrinkles. This isn't the worst photo I have ever seen of myself (try not to be distracted by the cuteness of the Little Lady) but with the exception of the two pics I have in the hospital with the Little Lady when she was born, this is the only recent photo I have of myself.

I just wanted to post this, because I think this photo is hysterical and because I do want my husband to know that I still have a sense of humor and that I love him very much!

Really Huggies? Really?

I realize that I probably write a little too much about poo in this blog, but I couldn't in good conscience not at least mention Huggies new, limited edition, jeans diapers. (Click on the link to access the commercial.)

Yes, you read that right--diapers that look like jeans.

It is bad enough that the Lady walks around the house only wearing her diaper--how much more WT would it look, if those diapers looked like jeans?

I am not a big supporter of jorts in general, but diaper jorts are quite possibly the worst idea I have ever heard of.

Having said all that, the tagline for these "jiapers" is hysterical.

It is quite simply: The coolest you'll look pooping your pants.

I mean is that classic or what?

I am sure this is just some sort of gimmick for us to go out and buy diapers, but baby style is big business. Just leaf through the pages of US Weekly, they now rate which celeb baby has the best style (usually a toss-up between Suri Cruise and Kingston Rossdale), we as American parents have got to keep up and if that means putting our kids in jean diapers, well as the tagline says, at least they will look cool pooping in them.
