Day 2/5 Five Photos of my Day

Day 2/5: Work. Work. Work. Not very exciting, but I had a project to finish so I was busy, which is always good since it was still pretty crappy out yesterday morning. I didn't go outside at lunch so I was super psyched to pull out of the parking garage and see a beautiful afternoon.

I had to pick up some prescriptions at CVS and then I was headed to a quick meeting after work. Hey CVS? Any reason why when I refill my prescriptions online for pickup at 4:00 that I am still waiting 15 minutes for it to be filled when I get there at 5:15? Yeah, didn't think so.
I still had some time before my meeting so I took a very quick 25 minute run to the beach and back. There is nothing better than some sand and sun. Also, the meeting was with a yoga instructor who is volunteering at the Komen CT walk next weekend, so it didn't matter if I looked like a sweaty mess, which I did, but it was well worth it.
Ahh, Costco. . . 4 gallons of milk is about average per visit. It is scary when only three out of five of us actually drink milk. Oh well. I picked up some milk, bread and some new undies for QT (they had Mike and Sully on them!) and headed out.
Lady in front of me fishing your receipt out of your pocket (your pocket? This is Costco, you buy the stuff, you keep the receipt in your hand so you can hand it to the checker guy on the way out) while eating a churro and holding a speaker phone conversation, while trying to pull your very full cart with one hand. DO NOT STOP in front of the exit. I will hit you with my cart!

Finally, home. Three kids in the tub is a good thing to walk into. The chaos that follows is not. Let's just say they all eventually went to bed.

Getting Moving and Motivated and the Box Top Quandry

I just completed my first work out of the new year.

I realize that it is January 9, but we all saw what happened when I went out too hard and too fast with the Box Tops, I just want to ease my way back into things.

I will say I took the new boob out for a run and it held up well. I have big running goals this year but I don't want to claim them as a New Year resolution because that is too much pressure and I have had the same list of resolutions for like two years and none of them have happened.

Well, I did make some photo books of the kids along the way and I have tried to make this blog a bit better. The new graphics helped right?

I think I am just approaching this year with a different attitude, just trying to incorporate the things I can control and actual take a step or two towards some goals.

And speaking of Box Tops. . .

Thank you to all of you who sent some in Christmas cards or gave them to my mom to give to me.

I got this little beauty of a coupon the other day at the store. I think I can buy 6 or more boxes of cereal to earn 40 Box Tops.

But here is the question. Should I just save them all up until the last collection of the year and then bombard them with hundreds of tiny little cardboard pieces or should I try to submit them this go around and see how it turns out? I don't want to get burned again!

Let me know what you think.

Fat Ass Friday: Run. Run. Run.

Just mailed in my application for the Sailfest 5k. This will be my second time running it and I am hoping that a few of my cousins join me for the run.

I got to the gym this week and have increased my time on the treadmill. Hoping to get a long run in tomorrow at some point before or after QT's 1st b-day party. Then I will counterbalance it with cupcakes.

Fat Ass Friday: Is it Really Friday?

Is it really Friday? I haven't done a bit of exercise since Tuesday.

This week killed me. While it was great to have off on Monday and we enjoyed our weekend at the beach, between running a couple of errands, the Lady's graduation, and work I didn't find myself in the gym much.

I am planning on packing up my sneaks for my trip to Pittsburgh to see my cousin get married and to experience my first weekend sans kids in a very long time.

My plan is to hit the hotel gym at some point on Saturday morning, however, I can see myself getting easily swayed by a big bed, uninterrupted TV time and the most recent US Weekly.

Oohhh. . . I might even read a book.

Really the possibilities are endless.

I will say that in order to avoid the unnecessary heartache that goes along with trying on dresses for weddings, I should probably be in that gym a bit more.

I am looking forward to the day that I can open my closet, pull out a dress and put it on without the sighs of disgust and frantic rummaging through my undies drawer for a pair of Spanx.

I will keep you posted.

Fat Ass Friday: Seven Minutes in Heaven

I have been working really hard to get my ass into the gym. I like to go around 1-1:30, when the lunch crowd has passed and it is just me and a few retirees working out.

I will admit that it makes me feel a little bit better about myself knowing that I am blowing by these old guys on the treadmill. I mean last week I saw a guy on the rowing machine with his eyes closed, for like an extended period of time. I crewed in college (for a semester--it was super early in the morning) and what this guy was doing could barely be considered rowing, but hey he seemed to be multitasking and who am I to judge?

I have been trying to build up my running time. I have experienced a runners high but yesterday was just a sucky run. The last seven minutes was less than heavenly. In fact it was much like the Junior High version of Seven Minutes in Heaven, you know, sweaty, uncomfortable and incredibly unsatisfying.

The one good thing about yesterday's workout was that the TV was showing "Pretty in Pink." I am kicking myself that my husband and I never recreated Andy and Blaine's first kiss. You know when they are embraced in silhouette, back lit by Blaine's BMW? I had an old beemer in college, it could have been beautiful.

I will say that I am happy that my endurance is building. I am considering taking part in some Navy Seal workout program they are running out of the fitness center, but the only pull-ups I have been exposed to lately were covered in Princesses and worn by the Little Lady. I will keep you updated.

Fat Ass Friday

Oh Entenmann's. . .you decided to have a BOGO sale this week? You know I can't resist your sweet confections. Did I buy the mini glazed donuts for the Ladies? Yes, but we both know they were a little bit for me too. And the Black and White cookies? I am pretty sure I ate the entire box (hey, it wasn't in one sitting).

The best part is that my hubby came home with my two favorite offerings of yours, the original coffee cake and the chocolate covered donuts. So we had four boxes of blue and white adorning our counter top.

Good thing I made it to the gym a couple of times this week. I started training for a 5k that I am hoping to run at the end of June. It is nice to get back into the routine of running, even though I couldn't make it to the gym as much as I wanted to this week. When your hour lunch is slotted for either the gym or every other errand you have to get done, sometimes the errands win.

Here is to hoping the beautiful weather we have had for the last couple days lasts and I can get out and get moving.

A few things. . .

Belated B-Day Wishes

I feel like this week is going by incredibly slow, even though we have been super busy and trying to keep on a schedule.

I didn't want the week to end without giving some (belated) birthday wishes to two recently-turned-3-year-old's!

Last weekend was the Big 3 for the Bunny and the Littlest Lady (who is now a Southern Belle). Happy! Happy! to you both. We hope you both had a great day.

TV Time

The new fall season is starting up and I am in a bit of a panic mode. Will I have time to watch anything? The last few weeks have been jam packed and quite honestly, the Ladies haven't been that great about bedtime. Well, let me clarify that, the Lady hasn't been that great about bedtime, which has in turn woken up the the Little Lady more than once. I am finding that by the time I get a chance to sit down and relax it is usually almost 10 o'clock.

I have great faith in my dual room-records up to three shows at a time-DVR. I just have to figure out the line up and settle in for some much needed TV-time. Oh, Bones. . .how I have missed you.

Run. Run. Run.

I am happy to report that my return to running is going pretty well. I am working up to longer runs (but still am painfully slow) and have signed up for a 10k in October. I am trying to set little goals each week, and although the scale hasn't changed much, my clothes are fitting a bit better.
