I was reading this article about Serena Williams being voted the AP Female Athlete of the Year.

I was surprised to read that the second place finisher was a horse. Not sure what that says about the state of women's sports.

Granted, the Male Athlete of the Year was a race car driver, but you would think that the honor of athlete of the year would only be bestowed on humans.
